Getting Started

Set up your profile and generate your first CV and cover letter

Quick Start Guide

Getting from zero to your first generated application takes less than 10
minutes. Here’s how.

Step 1: Create an Account

  1. Click “Generate Your First CV” on the homepage
  2. Sign up with your email or use Google/GitHub
  3. Verify your email address
  4. You’re in

Step 2: Build Your Profile

Your profile is the foundation for every application SnapCV generates. The more
complete it is, the better your outputs will be.

Personal Data

Go to CV → Personal Data and fill in:

  • Full name and contact details
  • Location
  • LinkedIn, GitHub, or portfolio URL
  • Professional summary (a short paragraph about who you are)

Your summary will be adapted for each role you apply to, so write it broadly.

Work Experience

Go to CV → Experience and add your work history:

  • Job title and company
  • Start and end dates
  • Key responsibilities and achievements

Add entries for all relevant roles. SnapCV selects and emphasises the most
relevant experience for each job you apply to.

Education

Go to CV → Education and add your degrees or certifications:

  • Degree and institution
  • Dates
  • Relevant coursework or GPA (optional)

Skills

Go to CV → Skills and add your skills grouped by type:

  • Hard skills: Technical or role-specific abilities (e.g. Python, project
    management, financial modelling)
  • Soft skills: Interpersonal and general abilities (e.g. communication,
    leadership)
  • Languages: With proficiency level (A1–C2 or Native)

Step 3: Generate Your First Application

  1. Find a job listing you want to apply for
  2. Go to Applications → New Application
  3. Paste in the job title, company name, and job description
  4. Click Generate

SnapCV will produce:

  • A tailored CV that highlights your most relevant experience for this role
  • A professional cover letter addressed to the company

Step 4: Review and Download

Read through the generated documents. They are a strong starting point — most
users send them with minor or no changes.

If something needs adjusting, edit the text directly before downloading.

When you’re happy, download the PDF and apply.

Your Application Dashboard

Every application you generate is saved automatically. From your dashboard you
can:

  • See all applications at a glance
  • Track the status of each one (applied, interview, offer, etc.)
  • Download previously generated documents
  • Update the status as your application progresses
